Farm to Garment

How is fabric made, and what are the processes involved in getting a fiber to become a fabric? 

With a focus on denim, we will follow the process of how fibers become garments.  Topics touched on in this workshop will include sustainability concepts in fiber growth and fabric manufacturing, fabric manufacturing steps, fabric dying methods, and garment creation.

Handout and resources will be provided in this workshop that could be adapted for classroom use.

  • Heather Clark

    Heather Clark has earned a Bachelor of Design: Fashion and Technology from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia.  She has a variety of experience in the fashion and apparel industry as well as in education, having taught at both the secondary and post-secondary levels.   She currently teaches in the Fashion and Technology program with the Wilson School of Design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
