Do you really know where your food comes from? Thousands of people across this province make their living in BC's food system, and in this workshop, you're going to meet a few of them.
Through activities, videos and discussions, participants will:
review the components of a local food system, from production to transformation, distribution, access and consumption, taking into consideration the inputs needed and the outputs generated along the way
learn about the teacher resources developed by BC Dairy Association that introduce the food system through four BC commodities: produce, grains, dairy and salmon
reflect on their own “local” eating, explore some of the issues related to sustainability in the BC food system, and start planning how to use these videos and resources with students
Workshop includes hand-outs and links to online resources, as well the opportunity to participate in a local food tasting. A limited number of BC At The Table discussion guides will be available for interested teachers.
Bring a writing implement and lots of enthusiasm!
