In this workshop, participants will explore multiple dimensions of food literacy education through a presentation, facilitated discussion, and reflection and mapping activities. Dr. Renwick and Dr. Powell will provide and contextualize examples of food literacy education initiatives and activities in both Canadian and international contexts. Participants will have the option to reflect on their own existing food literacy education practices and/or envision their future food literacy education goals. Participants will explore the roles these practices do and could play in the education and food systems landscapes of their schools, as well as in their communities locally and globally. This workshop is part of an ongoing research project on K-12 food literacy education led by Dr. Renwick and Dr. Powell, which is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
